The Parker Slimfold was added to the hugely successful Duofold line in 1962, in 1968 it was redesigned to include a Parker 45 style clip.  This set is a superb example of the original Slimfold.

The set, finished in Red, and comprising a fountain pen and pencil, is totally as new with all the original packaging.  The factory 'chalk marks' are fully intact, these were stencilled in wax and were intended as an aid to the retailer, to be rubbed off  at the point of sale.  The marks were only retained at the request of the purchaser or on unsold pens.  The marks are very fragile and would easily wear off as the pen was handled.

With respect to condition, there is not a lot to say, other than it is 'as new', exactly as it was around sixty years ago.  Please study the photographs, I've taken 16 of them in an attempt to do the set Justice!

Despite the name the Slimfold is a very comfortable 14.7 cm. in length when posted for use, only marginally shorter than the Parker 51.

The pen has a 14Ct. Gold nib, it is stamped '14K' and '585', both denoting 14Ct.  To preserve the pen's unused status, I haven't inked it up but these nibs are renowned as great writers.

The pencil, which is, of course, the correct No. 3, operates by rotating the cap to extend and retract the lead.  The cap is pulled off to reveal the eraser, which can be removed to access spare leads stored in the barrel.

The Parker 'halo' box is in pristine condition and also contains the operating instruction leaflet.

The Parker Duofold Slimfold is a high quality, Gold nibbed fountain pen with a good performance and faultless pedigree.  An 'as new' set is extremely hard to come by and is clearly very collectable, but it may be that it is time that such a  beautiful set was used and shown off.
