This is an incredible antique acrostic, 'DEAREST' ring from the Victorian era. Its multigem petals feature 7 gems, the first letter of each which spell out the word, DEAREST; These gems comprise a central diamond, 2 emeralds, an amethyst, a ruby, a sapphire and a topaz.
The gems sit around the central diamond like petals and give this ring its unique romantic quality. The ring's shoulders have stunning ornate floral engravings which frame the finger beautifully when the ring is worn.
Currently a UK size P 1/2 or US size 8, the ring could be re-sized within reason. The band is beautifully engraved around its entirety and hallmarked on the inside for 9ct Gold, Birmingham and makers mark: S. Bros.
This antique acrostic ring would have been given to a loved one as a token of affection, and to demonstrate that the giver held them as their 'dearest'.
This ring is in good antique condition. There are some solder marks from where the shank has had work, but nothing that can be seen when the ring is worn.
