On the left sits a king on a throne, his foolishness revealed by his donkey ears. His advisors are Slander, Deceit, Envy, and Wrath. Behind the throne stands Minerva, trying to hold him back. On the right is an artist who is condemned by the king under false pretenses. He is accompanied by the naked Truth and the god Mercury.
