Most plastic bottles are made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET also makes polyester, which is used in boardshorts and a variety of other goods. In short: the bottle gets broken down into chips. Then they become a fiber. Then it becomes a yarn. The yarn is spun into fabric and this material is then used to create products like boardshorts, backpacks and snow apparel.
