Issued in 1950, this 3-cent U.S. commemorative stamp honors the 40th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, founded in 1910. The brown-engraved design features three Scouts—a Cub, a Boy Scout, and an Explorer—standing before the Statue of Liberty, symbolizing patriotism and service. The Boy Scout emblem appears at right with the Scout Oath’s opening words: “On my honor, I will do my best.” This stamp celebrates Scouting’s contribution to American youth and civic values. It was printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
