Description:

Renaissance Baldakin organs with canopies survive in Northern Italy and Switzerland. The two instruments, restored by organ builder Mitsuhiko Nakanishi of Nara Prefecture, have excellent keyboard action and eloquently express a variety of articulations. In addition to works by Gabrieli, Ortiz, and others who were contemporaries of the organ, the program features a variety of transformative music, from charming pieces from medieval manuscripts to the Praetorius of the late Renaissance.
