Description:
The second collection of Mozart concertos by Ben Kim, winner of the 2006 Munich International Competition. Following the first release (CC-72816), which included Nos. 17 and 23, this release includes Nos. 24 and 25. Both are large-scale works composed in Vienna in 1786, and have contrasting characteristics: the tragic C minor and the luminous C major. Ben Kim plays Mozart with a light touch, and the composer's characteristic duality of joy and sadness is softly perfumed. <Born in Portland, Oregon in 1983, Ben Kim began piano lessons at age 5, made his solo debut at age 8, and performed with an orchestra at age 12. After studying with Leon Fleischer at the Peabody Conservatory, he was selected as a member of the Lake Como International Piano Academy, a program for seven pianists organized by Martha Argerich and others. She studied with Klaus Hellwig at the Berlin University of the Arts, and in 2006 won the first prize at the Munich International Competition. King International
