Japanese Popstars
Description:
The Japanese Popstars, the Lethal Uxpons of the electro world, are as aggressive in their tracks as they are in their name. The Japanese Popstars are a live electronic trio from Derry, Northern Ireland, who have received enthusiastic support from Tim Deluxe, Errol Alkan, Darren Emerson, 2Many DJs, and many more. They have completed their second original album "Controlling Your Allegiance". The first single, "Destroy," features John Spencer's ultra-personal vocals on a track that evolves from wobbly, dark new electro to a climactic explosion of intense synth sounds. At Decky's suggestion, he also asked Robert Smith of The Cure to join on vocals. The song "Take Forever" that emerged from it sounds like a condensed version of all the charms of its breakthrough predecessor and conjures up images of what The Cure would have sounded like if it had been born in 2006. Other artists on the album include Irish singer Lisa Hannigan (M-3), who has been nominated for a Mercury Prize. Chicago house legend Green Velvet (M-1), who has offered to collaborate with the group. Also on the bill are Tom Smith of The Editors (M-11) and James Vincent McMorrow, the Irish version of Bon Yvelle (M-9). Morgan Kibbey (M-6) from France's M83. DIS.
