Sigmund Freud was the oldest of eight children and his mother's favorite. She called him "My Golden Sigi" and he felt that her unconditional love helped him to succeed in life. "When you were incontestably the favorite child of your mother, you keep during your lifetime this victor feeling, you keep feeling sure of success, which in reality seldom doesn't fulfill". This is a painting of the little four-year old "golden Sigi" in his beloved hometown in Moravia, before his family moved to Vienna.
