This indestructible crystal sphere allows him to communicate with Sauron, the Dark Lord. Saruman, also known as Saruman the White, was the first of the order of wizards, called Istari, who went to Middle-earth as emissaries of the Valar in the Third Age. He was also the leader of the Wizards and the White Council, who opposed Sauron, but his studies in dark magic led him to desire the One Ring and its power. Thus he became Sauron`s servant and allied his stronghold, Isengard, with Mordor in the War of the Ring in which he was defeated. The antagonist of the work The Lord of the Rings, created by the British professor and philologist JRR Tolkien, his plans had a prominent place in the second film, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and at the end of the third, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
